Sweet Sinners

February 17, 2012

It’s almost time for the Festival of Sin!  Less than 24 hours to go!

Even though this event really is for celebrating the sinful things that most of us love, I wanted to be sure that everyone realized that there are less… depraved items available at the festival as well.  And what better way than to start out with some of the sweetest sinners?

Some details about the Festival:

Due to the potentially graphic nature of the event, the organizers have located the festival on an adult sim, which means that you must be age verified to enter.  The sim is soooooo well done.  The dark, dirty atmosphere is an absolutely perfect backdrop for the festival (and DO use the windlight settings that are suggested by the organizers, it really adds to the ambiance).  There ARE graphic images that could upset your sensibilities if you have them.

Also, since lag is such a huge problem for events like this, you will have to ensure that your scripts are below 60 or you will not be able to get in.  So instead of being encouraged to wear low lag items, the organizers are not allowing other options.  (You can thank the inconsiderate people who wear scripted hair, boots, jewelry and clothes along with their AO and pregnant belly hud to events in the past for ruining it for all of us.  I actually think it’s a great idea and, if nothing else, it will encourage people to check out the wrath side of the sim.)

I Love Being a Girl!

August 17, 2011

I do, really! And I love being a blogger, too! I’ve been busy with RL and as I mentioned before, a little down and out, a little lacking in… passion. But I’m back! And feeling very delicate and girlie. So it’s fitting that I pulled out my Exposeur pose pack while I was wearing my graceful little Tiny Bird dress.  And how sweet is this Truth hair?!

Okay, I’m getting lost in my own little white, swirly, girlie fantasy here and forgetting the point of this post:

Rockberry is having a sale!! All single skins in the store are marked down to 100L each! It’s a quickie Back to School sale and it will be over by Friday, so get there fast! There’s also a Platinum Hunt item hidden in the store (the hint is something about apples and calories, I forget exactly).

So, thanks to everyone for sticking around and being patient with me. I’m really going to try to get back on the wagon. I have a ton of 52 Weeks of Color posts to catch up on and Agnes Finney is going to fire me before I even get to blog something for her, so I’ve gotta get crackin’!

Elymode @ Culture Shock

May 16, 2011

Here’s what’s truly shocking:  Culture Shock is still going on!  If (somehow) you haven’t heard, Culture Shock is a collaborative effort between CHIC Management, Modavia Productions and more than 150 designers benefiting Médecins Sans Frontières, or Doctors Without Borders.  Keep your eyes open for the exclusive Culture Shock items at each store, 50% – 100% of the profits for those items will be donated to the docs.

The donation item I’m wearing is the new Vita dress from Elymode.  Elysium Eilde stepped out of her comfort zone on this one and it was well worth it.  The prim portions of the dress were easily resized and adjusted (even for me) and they make for incredible details on Ely’s already amazing work.  I ended up channeling a little of Ely through the dress and her Windlight settings and I took a lovely, unedited shot in SL.  (No, that’s not an insult, the pic just feels a little…  fantasy and pretty to me.)

I’m still fighting with shadows, so unfortunately you all have to deal with me experimenting and bitching about the failed trials.  I hate this glaring light that I can’t seem to get rid of.  I hate that I had to reduce the size of my inworld snapshots so I don’t get crazy lines all over.  I hate that my shadows used to work flawlessly and now they don’t!  LOL   Anyway…   There is some more Elymode in this pic, a Vita variation and part of the Lazy Day gacha items she has at the store for only 50L.  This is a group exclusive color, but the others are equally adorable.

Edited 3.17 :  I’m using the second pic as my sorry excuse for olive in the 52 Weeks of Color Challenge.  I know, I know, I’m pathetic.  But I’m so far behind!

52 Weeks of Color – Aparagus

April 11, 2011

I had a little bit of an Elymode explosion in my invvy today when I finally redeemed my Secret Santa gift card (thanks again, Santa!) and got the slightly ethereal, slightly witchy and all kinds o’ sexy Celestial Journey set.  That vibe plus my metallic SLink shoes (that didn’t make it in the pic) made me put on my copper Fae necklace from Dark Mouse.  I love this necklace and was so excited to have an opportunity to wear it for a post.  The Glam Affair skin is a special edition for the Dressing Room’s anniversary, so be sure to head over there and pick it up.

And just because a blog post TMI is too much fun to pass up:  Are you one of the 22% of people that can smell asparagus when you pee?  I am.

SLink into the Sky

March 19, 2011

So, I MAY have gotten a little silly with this week’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge.  But when Luna picked Sky Blue for this week, it gave me the perfect excuse to buy this sexy catsuit from SLink.  I exhibited a tiny bit of restraint and did not purchase the fatpack.  Despite its wonderful “deal” classification, I had no need for a lamé catsuit in every color of the rainbow.  And I’d already spent enough lindens on those heels I bought the other day.  Thankfully (sadly?) the SLink sale was capped off and celebrated with a grand party thrown by Siddean Munro.

Anyway, I mentioned a couple weeks ago that I was thinking about this sexy, from space thing.  Well, I finally pulled it together, pulled on my sexy, ass-kicking space girl stilettos and poured myself into that catsuit.  And after all that, I can’t even make myself the hero in my own story.  …or can I?

Oh, and a quick rant…   I NEED PHOENIX TO GET MULTIPLE LAYERS!  Had I been able to use the flight override feature in Phoenix and the multiple tattoo layers in Kirsten’s, my makeup would have been a whole lot more spectacular.  Not to mention my cleavage.

Pure Papillon

March 16, 2011

I’m sure y’all will be happy when I stop using that Pure Juice reference in all of my titles, huh?  LOL   After all the hype of the event, I finally had a chance to try on some of the comfy (read “more me”) clothes that were available.  So I settled down in my e! top and Republic flats and hatched me some butterflies!

Papillon Breedables are open!  And what does that mean to you?  Butterflies, of course!  The creators have been working SO hard on this release and are beyond excited to move out of beta and into real SLife.  And they should be.  They’ve put together such an extensive product.  I’m not big on breedables (buy the creature and then have your life savings sucked away in order to keep them alive), though I’ve had a bunny and a fairy and a horse- no chickens.  But I couldn’t pass up the idea of butterflies.  Don’t ask me why, I don’t know why, but I’m so glad I invested the time to visit the store and read all their materials and OF COURSE, buy some butterflies.  I picked up a Breeding Starter Kit for 199L that contained one male, one female, two plants and one beehive.  The butterflies are very easy to hatch, unlike some breedables that will break if you remove them from inventory incorrectly or if you touch them too soon before they hatch or birth or whatever.  The butterflies work like they should: drag, drop, hatch, butterfly, yay!  They are also fairly easy to control once you have them rezzed and hatched.  You can use their scripted menus or my preferred method, the Control HUD.  I didn’t love having to click on the butterfly after each choice made in the menus, so the HUD was much better for me, though for individual changes you’d have to use the specific butterfly’s menu.  The Control HUD came in a (currently) free box of HUDs and goodies.

And speaking of goodies…  Holy cow.  The creators have put together such a detailed experience for the breeders.  I won’t go into everything here, but let me say that the Papillon butterflies are somewhat of a cross between all the positive aspects of breedables and the fun and adventure of a good RPG.  Genetics and classes and bonuses (breed for that queen, folks!) that you’d get from that combination are placed in this wonderful little eco-community of butterflies, plants and other insects- all with the possibility for adventure!  The thought that went into this little ecosystem is amazing.  There are plants that feed the butterflies in different ways, gardening supplies to help maximize the productivity of those plants and accessories that have various effects on your garden.  My two favorites are the beehive and the psychedelic shroom.  The beehive (this shows some of the detailed thought that went into the creation of this product) has bees, obviously, that go out and kill spiders in your plants so their webs don’t harm your butterflies.  The psychedelic shroom improves your chances of breeding rare or mutated babies!  How fun is that??

I’m getting a little long winded here, but I want to say one more thing.  The accessories and gardening supplies and plants were all created to help your butterflies live and grow happily with the least investment possible.  There’s even a type of plant that increases in value and productivity the longer you own it – and the market for reselling has already emerged.  So buy some butterflies, breed some butterflies, enjoy your butterflies.  You won’t spend all your Lindens because it’s not necessary.

Fashion For Life

March 13, 2011

I stopped over at the Fashion For Life sims today to see how the American Cancer Society affiliated event was going.  I’m feeling antsy and impatient tonight, so although the ridiculously high ARCs of some of the other patrons chased me off the gorgeous black and white sims, one spot of color caught my eye.  I had to grab one of the gorgeous dresses from Vlintuition.  I’ve never heard of this creator before because I’ve never really looked into this style of clothing, but the choli and sari (I hope that’s right, forgive me if it’s not) are really beautifully done.

Hopefully you’re a little more tolerant than I am today and you can make some time to head over to the event.  It’s running until the 22nd, so you still have a few days.  The event seems to be really well organized and tightly associated with not only Relay For Life, as the Clothing Fair has been in the past, but with the ACS itself.  I know it’s difficult to decide where to send your charity dollars, but don’t forget that even in the face of dramatic and visually powerful disasters we’re fighting a much quieter battle with cancer every day.
