Happy Easter

April 8, 2012

I hope each and every one of you is having a wonderful holiday weekend.  Celebrating, non-celebrating, religious, non-religious, whatever, enjoy the weekend, enjoy your families, hell, enjoy yourself.  It’s cliche, but it’s true:  You never know what tomorrow holds so be thankful for what you have today and enjoy it to the fullest.  And if you don’t have what you want today, figure out how to get it and make it happen.  After all, you don’t want to have unfinished business and end up a zombie like you-know-who.

And hey, any advice would be welcome here.  I’m trying to get some perspective and show how tiny my av is, but I’m not quite capturing it, am I?  Any suggestions?

Petite and Unedited

April 1, 2012

I’m dancing and hopping and grinning with excitement again.  I’m in love.  With myself.  Narcissism at its best, I know.  But I can’t help myself.  I’m adorable.  Mynerva has collaborated with Yabasuka to create the most darling Petite line of mesh avatars.  The avatar is so tiny and so sweet (though her arms seem a little long, if you ask me), I can’t decide if I want to be her or carry her around with me everywhere.  The rigging (I think?) is so well done that my Petite can seamlessly use my regular AO and I really didn’t expect it, so that was a pleasant surprise.  Both Evie’s Closet and Wasabi Pills have downsize…  err… miniaturized some of their wonderful designs, outfitting these Petite avatars to be as well dressed and accessorized as our larger selves.

I haven’t been doing much photo editing lately, choosing to focus more on photography techniques and inworld features to help shape my pics, so doing Harlow Heslop’s Unedited challenge wasn’t too much of a stretch for me.  While fighting with Firestorm and my dying graphics card, I snapped some pics as I tried to focus on my avatar’s size compared to the world around her.  There will absolutely be more perspective shots with her in them.  Oh, and unrelated, but I’m trying to come up with a name for her.  Any suggestions?

A Supersized Sin

February 20, 2012

A bit of fun from the Festival of Sin.  Weather or Not has created a mesh burger that suits me perfectly right now.  I have been ridiculously gluttonous for the past few days and I can’t get enough to eat.  I’d enjoy a supersized everything right now.

Elymode @ Culture Shock

May 16, 2011

Here’s what’s truly shocking:  Culture Shock is still going on!  If (somehow) you haven’t heard, Culture Shock is a collaborative effort between CHIC Management, Modavia Productions and more than 150 designers benefiting Médecins Sans Frontières, or Doctors Without Borders.  Keep your eyes open for the exclusive Culture Shock items at each store, 50% – 100% of the profits for those items will be donated to the docs.

The donation item I’m wearing is the new Vita dress from Elymode.  Elysium Eilde stepped out of her comfort zone on this one and it was well worth it.  The prim portions of the dress were easily resized and adjusted (even for me) and they make for incredible details on Ely’s already amazing work.  I ended up channeling a little of Ely through the dress and her Windlight settings and I took a lovely, unedited shot in SL.  (No, that’s not an insult, the pic just feels a little…  fantasy and pretty to me.)

I’m still fighting with shadows, so unfortunately you all have to deal with me experimenting and bitching about the failed trials.  I hate this glaring light that I can’t seem to get rid of.  I hate that I had to reduce the size of my inworld snapshots so I don’t get crazy lines all over.  I hate that my shadows used to work flawlessly and now they don’t!  LOL   Anyway…   There is some more Elymode in this pic, a Vita variation and part of the Lazy Day gacha items she has at the store for only 50L.  This is a group exclusive color, but the others are equally adorable.

Edited 3.17 :  I’m using the second pic as my sorry excuse for olive in the 52 Weeks of Color Challenge.  I know, I know, I’m pathetic.  But I’m so far behind!

52 Weeks of Color – Periwinkle

April 28, 2011

Periwinkle was not an easy color.  I didn’t have anything in my inventory that suited the version of blue that I had in my head.  Then I would have loved to put something together that would be a fitting tribute to a poem written about me, but I couldn’t do that justice either.  So I went with simple instead.

And let’s not forget to mention Culture Shock.  The Exile hair I’m wearing is one of the exclusive items that Doctors Without Borders will receive proceeds from.  I picked up this sweet little sundress there too (but I’m honestly not sure if it’s new for the event or if you can pick it up at the store, sorry).

I’ve been feeling pretty faded lately, and I think Chloe’s looking a little sad and vulnerable in the pic, so I guess it is a bit of a tribute to the poem:
I always preferred
midnight to navy in a box of sixty-four.
She chose periwinkle, powder, cornflower,
her colors pale and fading.

Blogger Subculture Challenge

April 22, 2011

So…  I finally got around to finishing the Subculture Challenge!  Sileny Noel put together a huge list of subculture groups from which she picked two subcultures for you based on the numbers you chose.  I ended up getting Geek and Psychedelic 60s.  I haven’t had a chance to get to the Geek yet, but I channeled my psychedelic (late) 60s self and put together a little something.  I imagine it’s not quite a classic psychedelic 60s example, but it’s MY example.

Nothing new for this post fashion-wise.  I’m wearing one of the many colors from my Reek fatpack of bikinis, a newer Mynerva skin, my beloved prim feet (though they gave me fits trying to color them for this), my pixie cut from Elikatira and the sweetest little open mouth from Tuli.

I did get a little “ambitious” and put together a little body paint for myself on a tattoo layer.  I also made this pose.  And while I really enjoy doing it, I am not a posemaker and I have such a difficult time with the body mechanics.  So anyway, I made it and I’m proud of myself.  So there.

Butterflies, butterflies, butterflies.

April 8, 2011

As anyone who knows me has noticed, I’m a little crazy for butterflies lately. The wonderful Papillon breedables are threatening to take over my sim (and my lindens) and now I have found a crazy dress that has them literally orbiting around me.
The SoliDea Folies Butterfly Circle dress isn’t a practical one, but it was SO much fun to photograph. And even the prim challenged like me will have no problem fitting this dress. As I was putting this look together, I kept having flashes of Galadriel from LOTR when she does her whole “not dark, but beautiful and terrible as the morn” thing about the One Ring, so I had to go get some hair that matched that image. This amazing Irena hair from Vita’s Boudoir was exactly what I was looking for. Expect to see this hair again because I plan to be in the wind or the water a lot from now on, just so I can wear it.

SLink into the Sky

March 19, 2011

So, I MAY have gotten a little silly with this week’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge.  But when Luna picked Sky Blue for this week, it gave me the perfect excuse to buy this sexy catsuit from SLink.  I exhibited a tiny bit of restraint and did not purchase the fatpack.  Despite its wonderful “deal” classification, I had no need for a lamé catsuit in every color of the rainbow.  And I’d already spent enough lindens on those heels I bought the other day.  Thankfully (sadly?) the SLink sale was capped off and celebrated with a grand party thrown by Siddean Munro.

Anyway, I mentioned a couple weeks ago that I was thinking about this sexy, from space thing.  Well, I finally pulled it together, pulled on my sexy, ass-kicking space girl stilettos and poured myself into that catsuit.  And after all that, I can’t even make myself the hero in my own story.  …or can I?

Oh, and a quick rant…   I NEED PHOENIX TO GET MULTIPLE LAYERS!  Had I been able to use the flight override feature in Phoenix and the multiple tattoo layers in Kirsten’s, my makeup would have been a whole lot more spectacular.  Not to mention my cleavage.
