Ohey. It’s me. I’m blogging. Or something. Anyway, I noticed that I was wearing black (surprise, surprise!) and remembered that Maci Restless had put out a Black and White Blogger Challenge, so I decided to take a quick snap. This pic is pretty much raw from SL, short of a crop and coloring in a corner or two where my background didn’t fill the whole frame. It’s such a quickie and it’s breaking a bunch of photography “rules,” but I thought the outfit and the scene were pretty, so I’m blogging it anyway. BTW, I’m wearing an Elikatira hair that I picked up at her amazing annual sale. You should get down there while it’s still going (until the 1st)!
I had several thoughts about the less literal concepts of black and white and grey (as well as a 50 Shades joke or two), but I’m not going to get into all of that right now. Maybe next time.
Oh wait, that’s supposed to be “Winter is Coming,” isn’t it… errmmm… Anyway…
Autumn IS coming. The air really is cooling off. The trees really are starting to change. September is upon us and the Summer Harvest Hunt is in full swing. Yes, folks, I AM still doing the 52 Weeks of Color Challenge. While the rest of you might be all dark raspberrying or even dandelioning, I’m playing with folly. And let me tell you… Between Rezzie’s sweet little dress, this amazing Amacci hair from the Festival of Sin and the tough/cute leggings from Pink Lip Gloss… This color was heavenly for me. Oh, and this is the first snap I took, too. All around a good thing. :)
Now, don’t forget, the Festival runs through March 3rd, so you’ve only got about another week to get over there and check out the sinning.
But we’ve got some good stuffs coming up, so don’t be too sad that the event is almost over. The Fresh Unknown Hunt starts on March 1st! I have oodles of boxes waiting for me, so I’m sure I will be showing you guys some great gifts from the new creators and designers out there!

I’m falling behind on my WoCC. Again. I was going to make a pose for this, but time just got away from me.

A patina is the accumulated changes in surface texture that occur over time. This process is easily seen in cases like the Statue of Liberty, which display the characteristic green color that inspired this week’s challenge color. Less obvious than the shiny copper to dull green-blue transition, anything can acquire a patina as it ages – your favorite antique rocking chair, the stone steps leading up to your house of worship, the heirloom lucky coin that you carry in your pocket and rub between your fingers. I’ve been feeling more than a little worn around the edges and used up for the past couple of months and, though you can’t see it, my patina is changing. Time alone takes its toll, add a little academic stress, career anxiety, emotional turmoil and all the other daily environmental factors that rub and grind and scrape at the surface (and deeper) and it’s clear to me that my shiny exterior has been dulled and colored. But I keep reminding myself of the grandeur that our lady liberty now possesses because of her patina and it keeps me moving forward, looking ahead to the day I find myself swathed in a new shade of me.

I usually like to focus on the clothes a bit more than this when I’m doing the WoCC, but I changed it up and focused on focus. Yeah, that’s what I meant to say. I was fiddling with the Depth of Field settings as well as my WL settings, intending to play more than anything else, but… I’m using the result as my Iron. I think it’s kind of lovely actually. <self-deprecating comment removed> So here it is, uncropped and unfussed with.
Oh! And how about this gorgeous creation from SoliDea Folies?? I absolutely lovelovelove getting dolled up in these gowns and costumes.

Keep your eyes open for the exclusive Culture Shock items at each store, 50% – 100% of the profits for those items will be donated to the docs.
The donation item I’m wearing is the new Vita dress from Elymode. Elysium Eilde stepped out of her comfort zone on this one and it was well worth it. The prim portions of the dress were easily resized and adjusted (even for me) and they make for incredible details on Ely’s already amazing work. I ended up channeling a little of Ely through the dress and her Windlight settings and I took a lovely, unedited shot in SL. (No, that’s not an insult, the pic just feels a little… fantasy and pretty to me.)
I’m still fighting with shadows, so unfortunately you all have to deal with me experimenting and bitching about the failed trials. I hate this glaring light that I can’t seem to get rid of. I hate that I had to reduce the size of my inworld snapshots so I don’t get crazy lines all over. I hate that my shadows used to work flawlessly and now they don’t! LOL Anyway… There is some more Elymode in this pic, a Vita variation and part of the Lazy Day gacha items she has at the store for only 50L. This is a group exclusive color, but the others are equally adorable.
