Potpourri

January 6, 2012

Sooooo, friends and neighbors, I have a few things to tell you about.  Mostly unrelated items on the docket, but all important to me:

  • Inventory loss
  • Crotch flaps
  • Back to Black
  • Seven Deadlies
  • Fresh Unknowns

First order of business is <insert crying and flailing here> bitching about Linden Labs eating all the *elymode* stuff in my inventory.  WTF?  I’ve heard about the mysterious invy disappearances, but never experienced it before.  Well, now I have.  I think about 4000 items went poof.  I haven’t figured out what else went, but all my *elymode* stuff that was purchased before… last month is gone.  So the sweet little group gift skirt was not accompanied by any coordinating items for today’s post.  Which leads us to our next item on the list.

Ely has made us more meshy goodness!  And this one really is good: mesh crotch flaps on short skirts!  It moves so well with your avatar and since she treats us so well, she left the tushie flap as a regular prim so we can edit it to fit our booties!

Next?  The Back to Black event.  Keira Seerose has taken CHIC Management back to their roots with this event that pays homage to the first mental health awareness event, The Black and Blue Fair.  Back to Black will run from 4pm SLT, February 11th to 4pm SLT, February 29th and features over a hundred brands as participants willing to work within the message and themes of the event and design an exclusive item.

And if you get tired of being good next month, the Festival of Sin will be there to cater to your darker, more debaucherous side.  Running from February 18th to March 3rd, you can find creations inspired by any of the seven deadly sins you’d like to indulge in.

And last for tonight, but not the least, we have the Fresh Unknown Hunt.  This idea is actually really fun.  All the participants in the hunt are new brands/creators/designers and their stores are all in their fledgling moments (less than four months old!).  So make sure you check out the new talent this March!

Elymode @ Culture Shock

May 16, 2011

Here’s what’s truly shocking:  Culture Shock is still going on!  If (somehow) you haven’t heard, Culture Shock is a collaborative effort between CHIC Management, Modavia Productions and more than 150 designers benefiting Médecins Sans Frontières, or Doctors Without Borders.  Keep your eyes open for the exclusive Culture Shock items at each store, 50% – 100% of the profits for those items will be donated to the docs.

The donation item I’m wearing is the new Vita dress from Elymode.  Elysium Eilde stepped out of her comfort zone on this one and it was well worth it.  The prim portions of the dress were easily resized and adjusted (even for me) and they make for incredible details on Ely’s already amazing work.  I ended up channeling a little of Ely through the dress and her Windlight settings and I took a lovely, unedited shot in SL.  (No, that’s not an insult, the pic just feels a little…  fantasy and pretty to me.)

I’m still fighting with shadows, so unfortunately you all have to deal with me experimenting and bitching about the failed trials.  I hate this glaring light that I can’t seem to get rid of.  I hate that I had to reduce the size of my inworld snapshots so I don’t get crazy lines all over.  I hate that my shadows used to work flawlessly and now they don’t!  LOL   Anyway…   There is some more Elymode in this pic, a Vita variation and part of the Lazy Day gacha items she has at the store for only 50L.  This is a group exclusive color, but the others are equally adorable.

Edited 3.17 :  I’m using the second pic as my sorry excuse for olive in the 52 Weeks of Color Challenge.  I know, I know, I’m pathetic.  But I’m so far behind!

Culture Shock – Chinese Edition

May 10, 2011

Hello kiddies.

Culture Shock 2011 is about half over.  Have you been there yet?  No?  Go, check out the exclusive donation items at the event that are benefiting Doctors Without Borders.

It has taken me wayyy too long to get this spectacular dress out to you all and it’s still not a very good showing, but my computer, SL and GIMP are all conspiring against me lately.  So I don’t have style credits at the moment and the editing is lackluster, but I HAD to get Agnes Finney’s Culture Shock Empress Dress blogged for you to see.  Swing by My Precious at the event and grab this and many other stunning designs.

Culture Shock 2011

May 1, 2011

It’s time for Culture Shock!  CHIC Management and Modivia Fashion Marketing have teamed up to present a fashion and philanthropic event associated with Doctors Without Borders.  The event opens at noon SLT and is taking place on the wonderfully organized Project Donate sim.  There are items at every creator’s booth that will have proceeds donated at 50% to 100% to Doctors Without Borders, so keep your eyes open for those special designs.

Have fun, make a difference and look good doing it!

52 Weeks of Color – Periwinkle

April 28, 2011

Periwinkle was not an easy color.  I didn’t have anything in my inventory that suited the version of blue that I had in my head.  Then I would have loved to put something together that would be a fitting tribute to a poem written about me, but I couldn’t do that justice either.  So I went with simple instead.

And let’s not forget to mention Culture Shock.  The Exile hair I’m wearing is one of the exclusive items that Doctors Without Borders will receive proceeds from.  I picked up this sweet little sundress there too (but I’m honestly not sure if it’s new for the event or if you can pick it up at the store, sorry).

I’ve been feeling pretty faded lately, and I think Chloe’s looking a little sad and vulnerable in the pic, so I guess it is a bit of a tribute to the poem:
I always preferred
midnight to navy in a box of sixty-four.
She chose periwinkle, powder, cornflower,
her colors pale and fading.
